These facilities offer clients a homelike environment and apartment like setting to recover in. Here they are provided with many of the amenities that they have grown accustomed to at home and are able to get the rest they need.
The alternative substance abuse treatment center is a very structured environment and requires that daily regimens be followed as they are scheduled. However, the daily regimen may include a wide range of activities that are therapeutically beneficial to the client and oftentimes include the following:
- equine therapy
- exercise sessions
- group and individual counseling
- meditation
- Yoga
These activities are beneficial emotionally, mentally, and physically. In addition to these, the facility may also provide classes and education materials involving life skills and relapse prevention so that the client has a better chance of staying substance-free. Finally, there may be an aftercare network included in the substance abuse treatment center program to take advantage of once the client has completed the program and returned home.
