The primary reasons that heroin continues to be considered as one of the primary drug threats in the US is due to its affordability and availability. It is easily accessible on the streets. Additionally, there are still numerous cases of heroin abuse reported every year that results in either death due to overdose or other serious illnesses.
Therefore, it is also viewed as being serious public health threat as well.
