The need for Christian-based rehab

As the addiction treatment and recovery field evolved over the past couple of decades, the alternative residential rehab facility began realizing that the one-size-fits-all approach employed by the traditional facilities just wasn’t cutting it. There was a need for more targeted programs that addressed the specific personal needs of each individual client. One of the types of programs that evolved out of this mentality was the Christian or Faith-based rehab programs.

Additionally, this carried over into the area of sober living environments or SLE’s as they are commonly referred to. Today, there are numerous Christian sober living residences located throughout the US although the concept originated on the west coast. The fact that these types of SLE’s came into the picture is evidence that the standard halfway house was not meeting the needs of those clients who wanted to get back on their spiritual paths and continue following their beliefs throughout the recovery process.

Benefits of Christian sober living

The SLE was originally developed in order to assist convicts who were recently released from prison as well as recovering alcoholics so that they could transition from the institutions they were in back into their communities. The concept evolved and became a significant factor in both alcohol and drug addiction for a number of reasons, one of which was that the individual was not totally confident with their sobriety.

The Christian sober living environment enables them to transition easier because in addition to the counseling and support, they are also taught a number of relapse prevention mechanisms. Many of the Christian sober living environments out there are more rigid in structure as well as having specific guidelines and rules that all tenants of the residence must adhere to continually.

The Delray Recovery Center offers a Christian sober living program on the premises and only those clients who have completed one of our intensive, in-patient addiction treatment and recovery programs before entering the sober living program. We impose no time limits on the length of stay enabling the client to grow confidently so that when they return home to their communities, they remain substance-free for life. We offer educational materials, Holistic therapies, individual and group counseling sessions, and life-skills workshops to clients in this sober living environment.
