Treatments for Drug Abuse
In 2007, 23.2 million people 12 or older needed treatment for illicit drug or alcohol use, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Of these, 2.4 million received treatment at a mental health center, hospital, rehabilitation center or another similar facility. So, 20.8 million people in this group did not receive needed treatment for their illicit drug or alcohol use problem. Treatments for drug abuse are important in the recovery of those with drug abuse problems and in the mending of their relationships with family, friends and society.
