Drug Abuse Effects are inevitable today as the number of addicts keep on increasing per day despite the presence of various Drug Treatment centers all over the various cities of the nations of the world.
Drug Abuse Effects are many but they could be grouped under three main subheadings namely:
- Effects on the individual addict
- Effects of the family of the addict
- Effect on the Society at large.
Effects on the Individual Addict
The very first person likely to experience Drug Abuse Effects in all ramifications is the addict himself. He is at the very receiving end of all the effects coming from the drug he or she is abusing. The main effect of the drug abuse habit begins with the mental faculty of the individual. The person is usually affected in his brain. Usually, the brain has the function to secrete certain chemicals necessary for the upkeep of the entire mental faculty and indeed the entire body. But when the addict keeps taking a particular hard drug for a long time, the brain would be trouble. In order to protect itself, it may go dormant thereby giving room for the drug to take over the process of the chemical production. This is usually a very pitiable case that may even lead to insanity and death.
Again, the other Drug Abuse Effects on the individual include: drowsiness, lack of sleep, restlessness, anxiety, insanity, suicidal tendencies and many more.
Effect on the Family of the Addicts
Drug Abuse Effects are also felt by the family of the addict involved in the case. The situation is even made worse when the addict is the man of the house who also refuses to give up on the drug despite the inherent dangers. Most ignorant men that engage in drug abuse, see it as one of the proofs they used in telling the world they have made something in life. However, there is usually lack of proper communication between the addict and his or her family members. This is mainly because of the addictive element that sometimes renders a man incapable of relating well with his family members.
Effects of the Society
The society suffers from the activities of drug addicts and abusers. Many times, the addictive element in those drugs and even in alcoholic drinks makes the addict to become die-hard robbers and assassins. This is because; it takes more than an ordinary man to attempt breaking a bank. The addictive element these guys take make them look at men and women as mere ants.
In the final analysis, there is no end to what Drug Abuse Effects can be. So long as there are addicts, the effects will continue to multiply.
