Outpatient Chemical Dependency Treatment
For the vast majority of patients recovering from chemical dependency, treatment is an ongoing process rather than an immediate cure. Initial detoxification usually takes place in a hospital or a similar therapeutic session, but the long process of recovery can take months or years to complete. Without a support system in place, many of the patients who successfully complete the detoxification process may return to drug or alcohol abuse when they leave the treatment center. Our outpatient chemical dependency treatment programs are designed to help those who have struggled with drug or alcohol dependency to stay clean after they leave an inpatient center.
Our After Care program is designed to help individuals transition from living on our campus to functioning in the larger world without returning to drug or alcohol dependency. After rehabilitation, many individuals deal with the additional stresses of reuniting with old friends, finding a job and reconciling with loved ones. Many of these individuals have spent years in friend groups full of drug or alcohol abusers; they struggle to find a support network that is free of these toxic influences.
Some worry that their time spent in treatment or previous disciplinary actions on their employment record will dissuade potential employers. These are stressful situations that can push patients back into their previous self-destructive patterns. Our goal is to help these individuals build lives for themselves without resorting to chemical dependency when times are tough.
Reports from the National Institute on Drug Abuse show that chemical abuse is a physical addiction as well as a psychological dependency. The exact causes of addiction have never been scientifically proven; genetics, environment, upbringing and narcotic availability all play a role in how prone an individual may be to developing a chemical dependency. While we deal with the physical symptoms of addiction during the detoxification section of our inpatient program, we use our outpatient chemical dependency treatment to help patients who are prone to addictive behaviors to stay away from the lure of easy-to-find drugs.
In recent years, the National Institute on Drug Abuse has reported a rise in abuse by youths of marijuana, over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs. For patients who have struggled with chemical dependency in the past, the availability of powerful narcotics can be a difficult temptation to resist.
Our outpatient chemical dependency treatment programs continue to give patients the therapeutic tools that they learned while they were recovering on our campus. We offer evening support groups to make sure that people who have full-time jobs can find a safe space to talk about their experiences. For individuals who thrived during our group therapy sessions, we offer recovery workshops.
Those who preferred private sessions can use our individual therapy resources to continue their treatment. Since many drug and alcohol abusers are self-medicating for underlying psychiatric problems like depression, anxiety and trauma, these therapeutic sessions can help ease the burden of these mental ailments. We offer these outpatient options because we understand that our programs are a treatment but not a cure for drug and alcohol dependency. Recovering from chemical dependency is a lifelong process, call us today at the toll-free number above to get started.
