The Dangers of Alcohol Abuse

If you or someone you love has a drinking problem, you know all too well how dangerous alcohol abuse can be. Alcoholism is a disease that is rarely treated successfully if the alcoholic refuses treatment. In fact, an alcoholic who tries to stop without medical attention may suffer from physical illness and extreme depression in the absence of medical supervision.

The Delray Recovery Center includes medically supervised detoxification as the first part of its five-phase rehabilitation model.

Five Phases of Alcohol Rehab

Detoxification

Detoxification is the first step of a patient’s recovery process. This phase involves the patient ridding themselves of all of the harmful substances in their body. Detoxification takes place under intensive medical care on an inpatient basis.

Partial hospitalization

Partial Hospitalization follows, which allows clients to receive intensive care during the day and return home at night. This lowers costs while still giving clients the treatment they need.

Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient Treatment is the phase most commonly associated with conventional rehab. Clients stay at The Delray Recovery Center for at least 90 days, during which time they are thoroughly examined and treated. Clients can take advantage of many different types of therapy, including art, exercise, religion and conventional psychotherapy.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient Treatment follows after the 90 days are complete, which eases clients back into society. Therapy sessions and activities are conducted during the day, after which the patient can leave the facility. Clients usually spend about 30 days in outpatient treatment.

Sober Living

Sober Living is the final phase of treatment at The Delray Recovery Center, during which clients can return for counseling as long as they like. This phase gives clients the support they need as they fully re-enter society.
