Five obstacles that prevent people from entering a drug rehab program

Five obstacles that prevent people from entering a drug rehab programWhen an individual has admitted to having a problem with alcohol or drugs, there next step is to choose an addiction rehab center and enter one of their programs so that you receive professional help.  Unfortunately, there are a number of obstacles that they encounter when it comes to entering a facility and undergoing treatment for their addiction.  The following are the primary obstacles:

  1. Education or work responsibilities – when a person is still pursuing their education or they are working a full-time job, they feel that they will be risking too much by enrolling in an in-patient program.  They feel that the interruption will cause to them to have to repeat a semester or an entire school year, or that they may lose their jobs by being terminated.
  2. Family responsibilities – in many instances, single parents feel that they are the only ones who can care for their children and therefore, cannot enroll in an in-patient program.
  3. Fear of the unknown – many individuals are in constant denial while others have a fear of the unknown when it comes to undergoing a drug rehab program and learning how to live without alcohol or drugs.
  4. Money and the ability to pay – in many cases, an individual does not have the financial means to pay for an inpatient program or they do not have a health insurance package that covers a residential drug rehab program.
  5. They are in a co-dependent relationship – when an individual is in a co-dependent relationship, one where the other partner has similar issues, he or she oftentimes fears that they will lose the other partner if they enter an addiction rehab program.
